Exploring the visual and ideological outputs of the Munich-based conference Digital Life Design (DLD) – a platform for the exchange of ideas between digital media, the sciences and culture – All You Need is Data explores the materialisation and commodification of “future visions and experiences”, which have become a feature of forward-looking ventures in the digital economy. The title of the 2012 edition of the conference, All You Need Is … DATA?, lends itself to this project, which was initially exhibited at the Kunstverein in Munich contemporaneous with DLD 13.

Denny turned the content of the DLD 2012 into 89 canvases, visually summarizing the conference in chronological order from beginning to end, like a timeline feed. The graphic panels are peppered with photos, pull-quotes and various app-style imagery playing on the skeumorphic style of app design popularized by the iOS for the Apple iPhone around that time. Mounted to a large-scale display structure, the canvases form a walkthrough maze in the installation space that schematizes the future-focused obsessions of the tech business.
