Exploring the idea that formal philosophical logic determines validity on the basis of form without needing to know content, Simon Denny aimed to translate some logical structures to a video installation format, comparing the form of the medium to the form of an argument. During his residency period in Sydney, Denny attended a course at the University of Sydney on introductory logic, which he documented by creating videos that teach small points that derive from the course. Halfway between a tutorial video and a videotheque, Denny’s exhibition also documented Artspace’s entire inventory of monitors serving as a record of the display hardware of the institution.
